Yesterday, Newsmax’s Greg Kelly proudly declared that Ghislaine Maxwell was set up. He said that there is a “hell of a lot of evidence out there that she’s innocent and a hell of a lot of evidence out there that they railroaded her.” He said that the setup us is was a deep state, “media plot” and that he doesn’t “like it.”
It’s odd that he might be the guy trying to help Donald Trump exonerate a notorious sex abuser. Kelly was accused of raping and impregnating a young woman over a decade ago. New York’s District Attorney Cyrus Vance subsequently dropped the case. At the time, Kelly’s dad was the city’s police commissioner.
Just a year later, in an unrelated case, Vance tried to get a judge to downgrade Jeffery Epstein’s sexual offender status.
Kelly may well have been innocent. Still, with his current efforts to help Maxwell help Donald Trump, it’s hard to ignore a potential Kelly/Epstein/Vance through-line; two credibly accused men, each connected to other powerful men, given leniency by a District Attorney connected to those same powerful men.
