Full TikTok + Substack Community Live: Understanding the Epstein Files Without the Chaos

How NPR’s reporting helps us understand the real story—beyond Trump’s spin and the GOP’s distraction campaign.

In today’s early live session, we dug into the newest NPR reporting on the Epstein files and why the political conversation surrounding them has become so confusing. With Trump and his allies frantically trying to muddy the waters, it’s easy to lose track of who was actually mentioned, what the documents contain, and what matters for our democracy right now. This NPR piece cuts through a lot of that noise, laying out the major players—Democrats, Republicans, academics, CEOs, foreign officials—and making clear that the story is bigger than the partisan blame games being pushed online.

But as I walked through during the live, the most politically significant name in these documents is still Donald Trump. While MAGA world tries pretending he was exonerated, the emails and references tell a very different story—one that’s becoming harder for them to spin away. And with a potential new DOJ release looming, Trump’s team is already setting up excuses to withhold or heavily redact anything that might implicate him.

In the noon subscriber-only live, we’ll go deeper into the video clips, including Epstein’s brother contradicting Trump’s claims about cutting ties. For now, this breakdown should help us all stay grounded before the next wave of misinformation hits.
