Calling Trump’s Shutdown Bluff

Donald Trump has been making a series of empty threats — from his so-called “20-point peace plan” for Hamas to his warnings about a Democratic-induced government shutdown. But none of it has actually happened. Despite all the bluster from Trump and his ally Russell Vought about shutting down “Democrat agencies,” the deadlines keep passing with no action. The truth is, he’s bluffing. He’s terrified of the political fallout and clinging to whatever influence he has left. Meanwhile, I think Democrats are right to stand firm and protect health care for millions, because it’s clear that Trump’s threats are nothing but noise — empty, desperate, and meaningless.
